What we hold, and for how long

This site sets no cookies, runs no third-party scripts, and sends no request to any domain but its own. The only personal data it collects is what you type into the access form.

Who is responsible

Fractal Streaming Pictures is the data controller. [Registered name and address to be completed by the studio], Freetown, Sierra Leone. Write to hello@oraios.africa about anything on this page. We have not appointed a data protection officer, because the scale of our processing does not require one.

What we collect, and why

DataWhyLawful basis
Your name and emailTo answer your access request and, if approved, to send you a download link.Steps taken at your request before entering a contract (UK/EU GDPR Art 6(1)(b)).
Studio, the film you are making, and its stageTo judge whether ORAI can serve the work you are doing, and in what order to respond. The same, together with our legitimate interest in allocating a limited number of places (Art 6(1)(f)).
Server request logs kept by our hostKeeping the site up and defending it from abuse. Our legitimate interest in the security of the service (Art 6(1)(f)).
Aggregate page countsKnowing which pages are read. Measured without cookies and without any identifier for you.Our legitimate interest in understanding use of the site (Art 6(1)(f)).

Giving us this data is voluntary. Without a name, an email and a description of the film, we cannot assess a request, so the form will not submit.

We do not send marketing email. If we ever do, we will ask you separately and you will have to opt in.

Who else sees it

Three kinds of company, each acting only on our instructions and under a written data processing agreement:

  • Our hosting and form provider[to be named by the studio once chosen] — which serves the site and receives the form submission.
  • Our email provider[to be named] — which delivers our reply to you.
  • Our analytics provider[to be named] — which counts page views without identifying anyone.

Nobody else. We do not sell data, we do not share it with advertisers, and we do not enrich it from other sources.

Where it goes

We are based in Sierra Leone, and our providers may process data in the United Kingdom, the European Union or the United States. Where data leaves the UK or the European Economic Area, we rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses, together with the UK Addendum where UK data is involved. Ask us and we will tell you which clauses apply to which provider.

How long we keep it

Access requests we decline, or that go unanswered by you, are deleted 24 months after we last heard from you. Requests we approve are kept for as long as you hold a licence to ORAI, and for six years after it ends, so that we can answer questions about it. Server logs are kept for the period our host retains them, which is short. Aggregate page counts contain no personal data and are kept indefinitely.

What you can ask us to do

Wherever the UK GDPR or the EU GDPR applies to you, you may ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, to delete it, to restrict what we do with it, or to send it to you in a portable form. You may object to any processing we base on legitimate interests, and we will stop unless we can show compelling grounds that override your rights. There is no charge, and we answer within one month.

We make no automated decisions about you. Every access request is read by a person.

If you think we have handled your data badly, tell us first and we will try to put it right. You can also complain to a supervisory authority: in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk; in the European Union, the authority in the country where you live or work.

Cookies, and the absence of them

This site stores nothing on your device. No cookies, no local storage, no fingerprinting, no advertising or social pixels. That is why you are not being asked to dismiss a banner. Our typefaces are served from this domain rather than from a font network, so loading a page tells no third party that you were here.

Images made with generative tools

Some images on this site were made or finished with generative tools. Where an image could be mistaken for a photograph of a real place, person or event, it is captioned as generated. No image on this site depicts a real person who did not consent to appear.

Changes

If this notice changes materially we will date the change at the top and, where the change affects data we already hold, tell the people it affects by email.
